From Catrin Collier (Author and one of our Vice-Presidents).

As you can imagine I have wide acquaintanceship among dyslexics. I was contacted yesterday by a 35 year old man who has overcome dyslexia to become an extremely successful stone mason (a businessman and employer), renovating old churches historic buildings etc..

Recently depressed he was referred to a psychiatrist by his GP who diagnosed AHD as well as Dyslexia. He is keeping a diary and has written a record of his experiences and fight with depression.

He asked me to recommend an editor as he realises he needs help to put his thoughts in readable form. He is not thinking of publication but only of helping younger members of his own family. After I recommended a professional editor it struck me that a book of personal experiences could help parents of newly diagnosed dyslexics.

It could be published on a non profit making basis or profit making with funds going to the Wales Dyslexia.  I am not volunteering my own services for this - as I feel it would to be a project for the Wales Dyslexia but I do feel that any kind of handbook would have made it easier for us as a family to cope with my youngest son's problems.

Yesterday my nephew aged 6 was diagnosed as probable dyslexic. His teacher mother was told "there's no funding for assistance in Rhondda Cynon Taf."

Times don't change. It would be good to know your thoughts.  e mail: llechryd1@btconnect.com
